    I've moved

I have totally neglected this blog for so long that I actually forgot about it.  I moved my blog to Blogger and forgot to tell anyone.  I shouldn't say forgot but failed to mention.  My new blog can be found here.  Come stop by for a quick visit.  My life is very interesting.  Yeah, whatever!
    March 12

OMG, has it really been over a month?

Yes, yes it has.  I can't believe that I've neglected my blog for so long.  There hasn't been anything too pressing other than my full-time work schedule, my full-time school schedule, and my relationship.  Yeah, not too busy here.  I wish!  Life seems to be passing me by right before my eyes.  So what have I been up to since Feburary?  Well let's see.  Del and I are still going strong.  There have been some minor issues but we seem to be working them out.  His girls are absolute dolls and I miss them everytime they are with their mom.  I never knew that you could get so attached to kids that aren't even yours but you can.  I finally met my mentee from the youth at risk program and we've been spending time together.  I wasn't really prepared I guess for what it would be like but I'm getting used to it quickly.  Her name is Maria and she's 10.  She comes from a rather large family and her mom and stepdad don't really have a lot of money or time to spend on or with her.  She hasn't done a lot of the things that I took for granted when I was young.  I couldn't believe that she had never been bowling or rollerskating before.  We have done both of things since we've started spending time together and she is having a great time and so am I.  She is really sweet but she is still in that give me stage so I'm getting used to that as well.  Well work is the same thing just on a different day.  The stockmarket is crazy as usual and I hear about everyday.  Oh well, I guess that's the job I lead.  We just started our new work schedule of 5am to 1:30pm.  I really love this schedule because getting home at 2pm is really nice.  There's no traffic in the morning or in the afternoon and work seems to go by so much faster.  I love daylight savings time.  In Arizona we have to adjust our work schedules because we don't recognize daylight savings time.  We have to be different.  Oh well.  And finally school.  Well it's spring break.  YEAH!! I love Spring Break.   I am doing nothing special because work doesn't cut us a spring break.  At least I don't have to rush home and get to school for a whole week.  Next week my sister will be on Spring Break and she's bringing the kids home for a week.  I am so excited because we never get to see them anymore.  It's going to be fun.

So there's an update.  Oh, did I mention that I'm going to Hawaii in May for my birthday?  I am and I'm so excited.  Is it May 18th yet?  I plan on spending six days in Kuaui and just relaxing for my birthday.  I so deserve it.  I love going to new places and I try to see a new place every year for my birthday.  Next year I want to go to Spain but who knows?  I have wanted to go for years and I am going to just have to bite the bullet and buy a ticket.  Anyone want to go with me?   So I am going to go catch up on all my friend's blogs so look for some comments from me.  I hope that everyone has been enjoying themselves over the last month while I was away.

    They make my heart melt

As all of you who read my blog know I have recently started dating a guy.  What you don't know is that he has two of the most beautiful children in the whole world.  Their names are Alexis, she's 8, and Emma, she's almost 4.  Oh my goodness, they are the sweetest kids and while I've met them before I actually got to spend some quality time with them this weekend.  Del only has the kids every other weekend but he always makes the most of his time.  He is such an amazing father and his girls are so good and such daddy's girls.

This past Saturday I met him and the girls at his place and we decided to go to the Chocolate Affair Festival that they were having downtown.  I absolutely love, love, love chocolate and I got to spend time with Del and the girls.  We walked around for a while and we let the girls make chocolate pizza.  Yes, that's what I said, chocolate pizza.  It was just liquid chocolate that the girls could stir marshmellows and hershey kisses into and then they had to wait for the chocolate to harden before they could eat it.  They didn't like the waiting thing because they too love chocolate and it just looked so tempting.  We tried to wait to eat it but that didn't last long and they ended up eating it while it was still in it's liquid state.  I guess it was good because they had it everywhere.  Well we ate more chocolate, walked around some more, bought some souveniers, and took a carriage ride.  It was a great night and in the end the girls were so tired and fell asleep as soon as they got home.  They were just too sweet.  On Sunday I once again got to hang with the girls (and Del, of course) and we went to the lake because it was well into the 70s here in Phoenix.  Sorry to all who are freezing in their cold ridden states.  We parked and let the girls play.  They just wanted to throw rocks and see who's made the bigger splash.  Emma kept finding these big rocks and kept asking Del and I to throw them in the lake for her.  Well we left the lake after about two hours of rocks and water fun and we stopped for some ice cream before they took me home.  I think the girls liked me but they also seemed a little jealous that there may be a new girl in Daddy's life.  I'm not sure how to deal with this because I've never dated a guy with kids before.  Any advice?

So that was my weekend.  Oh, one more thing, my mom and I went to the science center on Saturday and saw the Body Worlds 3 exhibit that came to Phoenix.  That was really cool and I learned so much.  My only complaint though was that there was this group of three people who thought they were doctors and they were right behind my mom and I during the whole exhibit.  They kept talking about how all the body parts worked and it wasn't even always correct.  I'm no doctor but when the exhibit information is different than what is coming out of their mouths, I tend to go with what the exhibit is showing.  Oh and the funniest thing happened with that group.  They were looking at this body that was a posed plastanation and one of the girls looked right at me and asked me, "Do you know what gland that is? I can't remember what gland that is."  I gave her this look like, Do I look like a doctor to you?  I'm here just like everyone else trying to learn something.  If I was a doctor, I probably wouldn't be interested in relearning about body parts I already know about from medical school.  Get a clue woman.  So annoying!!  Oh well, other than that, it was a pretty awesome show.  My mom totally loved it to and she read EVERY single information card and listened to EVERY piece of information she could.  At least we got our money's worth out of it.

Overall, another great weekend.  Work is going great for a change and so is school.  I totally love school this semester and I hope this loving feeling lasts at least until Spring Break.  This next weekend Del and I are going to Sedona for the weekend.  It's going to be so beautiful and we are going to go hiking, shopping, and do general touristy stuff.  I'm so excited.  One last thing,  I have my final training this week for the mentor program that I started with.  I should be able to meet my mentee next week, or at least I hope so.  That really makes me happy.  I hope that I make as great of an impression on her/his life as I know that they will make on mine.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and that you have a great week.  I will write again soon.  I added pictures of Alexis, Emma, and Del.  Aren't they just the cutest?

All about the rage in the cage

What a wonderful weekend I am having.  The weather here in Phoenix is so beautiful.  It's probably in the 70's I'm guessing.  No wind, no cold, no rain.  It doesn't get much better than that.

So Friday night I had a date night with my new man.  Del and I were originally going to go to the movies and then off to "Extreme Bowling" at the local alley but we skipped the movie and instead went shopping and then we went to the bowling alley.  The shopping was pretty boring and I only ended up buying my niece some new bedtime books but it was really nice to spend some time with Del just walking and talking.  We headed off to the bowling alley at around 10pm for a night of music, flashy lights, and knocking down some pins.  We ended up playing five games and I won every one of them.  No mercy for Del.  I had three beers while bowling and you'd think that my score would reflect this almost drunk state but it didn't.  I was actually getting better.  I guess all those Saturday bowling leagues when I was a kid finally paid off.  My mom would be so proud.

On to Saturday.  Saturday night Del and I went to dinner at a great new Mexican resturaunt and then we went to the casino for Rage in the Cage.  I have never been to a fighting event before but I thought that it couldn't be that bad.  Del is really into this fighting stuff and the IFL or is it UFL?  I don't know all the details but he really likes it.  When we first got there I was glad to see that the seats were really close to the cage and there were also viewing screens up around the cage for a closer look.  The fights started at around 7:30pm or so and the first few fights were pretty uneventful, mostly just wrestling.  These guys were pretty new and really skinny for fighters if you ask me.  There was an intermission in the middle and then the more experienced fighters started to come out.  There was a really good fight with lots of punches and blood and I couldn't believe how excited I was when they were beating the crap out of each other.  The only thing that really disturbed me was how the referee wore surgical gloves but the guys who cleaned the fighter's blood didn't.  Isn't there some kind of safety hazzard going on there.  I have a thing about blood and I don't really like to see it let alone touch it with my bare hands.  It's really GROSS!!  Well in the end I must say that I too like cage fighting.  It's really cool to watch and it's not as unsafe as I once thought.  I may actually let Del take me to another one.

So here it is Sunday night.  All I did today was laundry and I ventured out to buy a new MP3 player.  Oh, I also sat around and watched DVDs of Project Runway Season 2.  I love that show and I'm so glad that I have Netflix.  I have been really lazy all day and I should probably run to the grocery store to pick up a few things for work this week and then mail back my Netflix before I get too lazy to go out again.  I hope that everyone is having a great weekend and has a wonderful week.  Until next time...

    And here we go again

Yesterday was the start of the new semester.  Yep, another semester of working all day and going to school all night, homework, studying, and stressing over tests.  Oh, the life of a working student.  I must say though, it will all be worth it in the end.  At least that's what I tell myself every night I drag myself off to class.  Only two and a half more years, ONLY.  It wasn't so bad last night.  I went to my first statistics class and I actually think I may like this class.  I noticed something last night, it seems that when you are a night student you end up with the same people in your classes over and over again.  I saw about six to ten people that I've had some class with over the last three semesters in my new class.  I like seeing those faces again because I am used to them and don't have to make new friends.  Sometimes I just don't want to make new friends.  Hopefully I stay as positive as I am now throughout the semester.  Tonight I start my Physical Geography course and I'm sure I'll like it.  I am a science nerd.  I am taking a full semester again and I am also taking small group communications, history of jazz music and culture, and english 102 for the second go around.  I am hoping that I can get over my procastination issues soon or this could be another long semester.

Some good news for anyone who's interested, I am seeing a new guy.  It's really new and I'm really excited.  His name is Del and we had our first date on Friday night.  It was really nice and we ended up talking all night.  I don't want to sound too girly or cutesy so I'm not going to go into all the details but I had a great time.   It was a long weekend and we ended up seeing each other three times over the four days off and it's off to a good start.  I'll keep you updated on any new developments.

My parents are heading off to Palm Springs this weekend for a conference and I am home alone with the dog.  I have never mentioned my dog before so I'll fill you in on him really quick.  His name is Lucky, he's a dalmation, and he has been in my family since I was a sophmore in high school.  So that's about ten years now.  About two or so years ago he was diagnosed with diabetes and now has to have a shot of insulin twice a day.  He has really bad arthritis as well and has a hard time getting on the furniture and in his chair.  So whenever we go away on vacation we have to make sure that someone can take care of the dog.  He is such a good dog and he loves me so much so I don't mind taking care of him while my parents are gone.  We have heard a lot of "Why don't you just put him down?" comments lately but my mom just cries when she hears that.  I don't even talk about that around her anymore and he doesn't seem to be in any pain.  Oh and did I mention that he's blind in one eye?  The vet says that was caused by the diabetes.  He is like a kid and we can't imagine what it's going to be like without him.   We all know that he won't be around forever but we continue to love him and give him LOTS of bones.  He's definitely not a skinny dog.  So now you know about Lucky.

Well I am off to work now, it's Wednesday so we are halfway done with the week.  YEAH!!  I am already planning my weekend.

First blog of the New Year

I've been really slacking in the blog department these last few weeks.  After I got back from Christmas at my sister's house work got incredibly crazy and when I'm not working it seems like I've been so busy doing everything else.  So a quick update.  My New Years was pretty boring and uneventful.  I didn't do much of anything and just hung out at home with my friend and didn't even make it until midnight.  I usually watch the ball drop in NYC on TV but this year our satellite was out and I couldn't watch anything.  We did get the day after New Years off from work though and I finally caught up on some of my errands.  Other than that, not too much but work, work, and more work.  I can't believe how busy the stock market is at the beginning of the new year.  At least the days are flying by.

I made two New Year's resolutions this year and while I know my track record for keeping with resolutions I am really going to try again with these.  I am resolving to stop buying my lunch at the work cafeteria and to stop procrastinating with everything.  I really want to not buy lunch at work for two reasons:  it's incredibly expensive and quite fattening at the same time.  I have done so good so far and have not bought lunch at work or anywhere else for that fact.  No more fast food for me.  Yeah right, I'll bet I break the no fast food rule before January is over.  The procrastinating resolution is more of a school thing than anything else.  I procrastinate so badly that I almost don't get my work done before it's due.  I want to be less stressed this semester so I guess I'll need to get on the ball with the homework and studying.  I guess we'll find out how this year's resolutions work out.

This last weekend was pretty fun.  I hung out with a few friends that I haven't hung out with at all lately.  I went to my friend Di's house on Saturday and hung out for about five hours.  We had pizza and watched movies with her kids and talked girl talk for a while.  It was really nice to hang out with her and have some girl time.  On Sunday I went to church and then at night I went over to my friend Liz's house for bible study and fellowship.  It was really fun and I hadn't seen any of those friends since before Christmas.  I love hanging out with them and I need to hang out more often.  The weekend always goes by so quickly.

Well it's another Monday here at the office.  Crazy as usual but at least this week looks like a good one.  I am due to give blood tomorrow afternoon and then tomorrow night I have a meeting with my new volunteer project.  I love to volunteer and I am getting involved in two new projects this year.  The first one is mentoring a "youth" (not sure who yet) that is at risk in the inner-city of Phoenix.  I have never done anything like this before but I'm excited to start and look forward to meeting my mentee.  I am also going to start working at the Ronald McDonald hospitality room at a local hospital here in Phoenix.  I love working with children and their families and I can't wait to start this project.  I'm not too sure when this is going to start but probably before the end of the month.  I'm looking forward to 2007 and I know that it's going to be a great year.

    December 28

    I know it's been awhile

Ok, I know I said that I would write at least once a week but I've been so busy these last few weeks.  Well let's see what's been going on since I last blogged.

For Christmas I went with my family to my sister's house in Maryland.  It was so nice there and I think that it might have been warmer in Maryland than in Phoenix.  My niece had her first Christmas this year and she was so spoiled.  She was not interested in the presents at all but she loved the bows and boxes.  My nephew who is three and a half was so spoiled as well.  You should have seen his face when he walked down the stairs on Christmas morning and saw all the presents that he got from Santa.  Christmas was really nice and other than having to fly on Christmas Day quite relaxing.

This past week at work has gone by really quickly and I can't believe that it's almost the weekend already.  Yesterday I took a test (the series 63) for my job that ensures that I know all the state laws regarding stock trading.  It is always stressful for me to take tests that decide if I keep my job or not.  I had to take this test before the end of the year so I got stuck studying over the holidays.  I am just glad that it's over now and I passed.  I am officially liscensed to trade in Arizona.  Go me!!

A bit of good news comes with the death of President Ford for me.  It's really unfortunate that he died this past week but when a former president dies in the US the market closes for a day in his rememberance.  I will hopefully get to have Tuesday off next week.  It is a sad thing to celebrate I know but a day off is a day off.  I don't know if you notice this or not but banks and the stock market are never closed for four days in a row.  It has something to do with the stock market crash and the Great Depression.  I should look into that.

I have to get back to work for now but I will make sure to blog again soon.  This weekend is going to be a fun one so I'm sure I'll have something to blog about when I get back.  Hopefully on Wednesday.

    A great weekend with friends

Let me start off by saying that I had a great weekend.  I had so much fun this weekend that I didn't want to come back home on Sunday.  I went to Sierra Vista this weekend for my friend C's military ball and I met up with some of my other friends while I was down there.  I should start at the beginning and tell you about the ball.

The ball was nice but in my opinion not impressive.  The first thing that I noticed was that the people in charge of seating arrangements did a really poor job.  They had me sitting at some table that was across the room from C and he was the only person there that I knew.  Well not the only person but I'll talk about that later.  So C and I had to get with some other people who had the same issue and move some people around.  We were also the only couple that didn't end up at the table with the rest of C's coworkers.  Oh well, we got seated together and we met some new people and had a good dinner.  The food was good but again not impressive.  I guess I was expecting some lavish event much like they had when I was in the Army but it was nothing like that.  There was no guest speaker and that was nice because they are known to talk on and on and on.  That would have been very boring.    So after dinner we took pictures and they look really nice but C didn't smile but that is his normal look.  He never smiles, I don't get it.  We then went back to our table and we sang the Twelve Days of Christmas Army style.  Each table had to change one line of the song to be Army style and we sang the song with the new lines.  We had the fourth day of Christmas, instead of four calling birds we sang four RC-12s (an aircraft that their unit flies).  We went through this twelve times and by this point everyone was getting a little happy from the mass amounts of alcohol that they consumed.  It was quite interesting, let me tell you.  We socialized for a bit after this and around 11:00pm we went home.  I didn't drink anything so I ended up driving home.  We quickly went to sleep and that was Friday night.

Now, on to Saturday.  I have been telling my friend R that I would come and visit him since he got here in October.  This is the first weekend that I have been able to and we had such a great time.  I called him at about 10 in the morning to see what he was doing and he said to come by whenever.  I got ready to go and was there by 11.  He suggested that he take me out and show me the mountains that he likes to off road on.  He has a beat up Jeep Wrangler that he takes off roading all the time.  We drove out and he took me on some of the scariest roads and mountains I had ever seen.  We were sideways on some of the roads and he was just driving like this was normal.  I was terrified at first but I got used to it and started having fun.  It was a total rush even though I was so dirty.  We got out of the mountains and met up with one of his friends and then drove out to a dried up riverbed that they found in Tombstone.  It was a open area this time but there were trees here and there and they took to knocking stuff down and riding over all the rocks.  It was quite bumpy but I felt completely safe this time.  We had so much fun and I can't wait to go again.  We went home after this and planned on having a small party that evening.  I went to C's house to take a shower and change my clothes.  I ate some food really quick so that I didn't get incredibly drunk that night from my lack of food and experience.  I almost never drink because I never party or go out so I knew that I was going to a world behind these everyday partiers.  We started drinking at around 7:30 that night and didn't stop until around 4 in the morning.  They all said that this was a mild party compared to what they are used to, I guess I need to go out more.  We decided to meet up with some friends at the Outback and then we preceeded on to a local bar to hang out.  Everyone came back to the house at around 1 in the morning and finally called it a night at 4.  It was a crazy night and I was drunk and so tired.  I heard many stories when I woke up but everyone agrees that I am a happy drunk. I laugh a lot is what I'm told.  It's better than being a mean drunk.  I woke up around noon and I was so hungry so R and I went to Dennys and other than being dehydrated I had no after effects.  I always have been able to drink all night and not get hung over, good genes I guess.  After lunch I decided to say goodbye and make my way back to C's house to get ready to go back to Phoenix.  I had so much fun that I didn't want to go home.  I left Sierra Vista and made it home by 5:30 that night.  I took a shower and got ready for bed and was asleep at 7:30pm.  I was so tired, I wore myself out.

Well that was my weekend.  I probably sound like a college kid but hey I am a college kid.  I think that I need to have more fun.  It doesn't have to involve alcohol because eventually that will get old but I really need to find time to hang out with my friends more often.  I am usually so tired from work and school that I don't want to do anything but from now on I'm going to cut out more time in my schedule for my friends.

So this week I have decided that since school has come to an end for six weeks I am going to start going to the gym again.  I have gained some weight recently and I'm not liking it too much.  I am going to try for an hour a day, five days a week.  We'll see how this goes because I've said this so many times before.  It's time to start something on a regular basis.  I'll keep you updated.  So I'm off for now, back to my job.  Until next time....

    TGIF

This morning I woke up with a feeling of ease.  Finals are over!! I'm so happy to be done with semester.  Well, technically I have to go back for one more Calculus class on Tuesday but I just have to turn in my project and any homework that I haven't turned in yet.  Quick and painless.  I can finally relax for a while and then do it all over again next semester.

Today is the day of the ball.  I'm kind of nervous but really excited at the same time.  I'm nervous only because I won't know anybody but C at the ball.  I make friends easily so I'm not worried but until I get there and get in the groove I won't be able to relax.  It's going to be fun and I'll make sure to post pictures when I get back.

Not too much else happening here.  This last week was spent studying and working like usual.  I did run into one of my friends at the mall this past week and I ran into her again at the library last night.  It's a strange thing that happens in my life, I'll see someone that I haven't seen in a while and then I run into them everywhere after that.  It looks like we are going to finally hang out sometime soon.  Should be a good time.  I know I'm boring when I have to blog about running into old friends but that was actually a significant part of my week.

Back to my boring job I go.  Speaking of my job, we are having a holiday party next week.  It's on a Thursday.  I have this feeling that Friday is going to be a looong day.

    Until next time....

    Shopping for the ball

I recently mentioned that I am going to my friend C's unit's holiday ball.  This won't be the first time that I've been to a military formal but it is the first time I will go as a civilian.  When you are in the Army, military formals are easy because you have to show up and you already know what you are going to wear, your dress uniform, even how you are going to wear your hair.  There's no thinking involved, it's just another day.  Well last night I was on a mission to find a dress for this event.  I tried to remember what the other wives and girlfriends wore at the last formal but I couldn't remember anything.  I looked around the mall and I found a red dress with braided straps that fit really nice.  I then decided that I need some shoes to go with it.  I found a pair of really cute low, black heels and they were only $40.  What a steal!  So off I was to find jewelry.  I was walking through the mall and I ran into my friend from one of my college classes.  We stopped and talked a while and filled each other in on our lives.  We then went into Claires and I found a cute necklace and some earrings to match.  I'm not sure if I'll wear them or not because I usually don't wear any jewelry.  I might just through on some diamond earrings and call it a night.  So overall it was a successful shopping trip and I even found a cute gift for my friend S for Christmas.

Monday I took my first final for the semester.  I'm glad that it's over but I know that it was only the beginning.  I have to take my second final tonight and hopefully I do really well on it.  I am finishing up my Calculus project tonight as well and tomorrow I take my last two finals of the semester.  I can't wait for this week to be over.  Finals will be done and the ball is on Friday night.  It's going to be a great weekend.

I can't believe how close Christmas is.  I am going to be going to Maryland to visit my sister and her family for Christmas.  I am only going to be staying for three days and I'm going to have to fight Christmas travelers but it will be worth it.  This is my niece's first Christmas.  It's going to be really nice to spend Christmas with all of my family.  Well not all of them but most of them.  My younger brother lives in North Carolina with his wife where he is in the Army and my older brother lives in Missouri.  Hopefully I'll get to spend some time with them in the near future.

Work has been extra crazy today and finding time to write today has been hard.  There's been system problems today so it's been nonstop.  So back to work I go.  Until next time...

    December 04

    Just another manic monday

Yep, it's Monday alright.  I told myself last week that I'm going to start getting to work on time but I could not convince myself to get out of bed this morning.  The alarm went off at 5:15 am and I turned on the light hoping that it would make me get out of bed.  It sure didn't,  I just rolled over and went back to sleep.  I finally rolled out of bed at 5:30 and started to get ready.  I have to be to work by six but usually I roll in at about 6:10 or so.  It's no big deal to my boss but I think that I should take my job more seriously and attempt to get to work on time.  I live really close to work so getting up kind of late isn't a problem.  I am going to have to find a way to make it to work at six from now on.  When the time changes again I have to be to work at five so I better change my sleeping patterns and go to bed before 11 at night.

So I had a great weekend.  My friend came to Phoenix to visit me this weekend.  He was already here before I got off work on Friday and we spent the whole weekend together.  On Friday I had a doctors appointment and he went with me and he had to sit in the waiting room for over an hour.  Such a nice guy he is.  We then went home and relaxed after his long drive and my long day at work.  My parents took us to dinner at a chinese restuarant and then we went home again.  I know we are boring.  On Saturday we slept in and then went shopping for a dress for the ball next weekend.  I didn't find anything but I will look again this week sometime.  We drove around Phoenix for a while and I wanted to go to the science museum but parking was impossible to find so we decided to do that another weekend.  We spent some more time relaxing and then went to sleep for the night.  Again, boring.  Sunday morning we slept in again and then slowly got up and my friend started gettting ready to go home.  I had homework and studying to do and I knew that I wouldn't get anything done if he was there.  After he left I went back to sleep and watched some tv before I got up to do homework.  I didn't get very far before I was bored and decided to just do it later.  So that was the weekend.  I had a good time even if most of it was spent at home.

Should I stay or should I go??

That's the question of the day.  I have been thinking about moving out of my parents house and I am trying to decide if I should move out sooner rather than later and where I should move.  The setup I have at my parents house is quite nice but I still feel like I should be on my own.  Right now it would be almost impossible to move out due to the lack of money in my bank account so I've come up with a plan.  I am going on a "spending diet" and save as much money as I can for a whole year.  That sounds like a really long time, even to me, but I know that it will go by really fast.  In January of 2008, I'm going to start looking for my very first house.  I'm so excited!!  I can't wait, something of my very own.  I believe that this is going to be a very hard year of saving but I have to do it if I want to move out.  At least my parents let me live at home for free...as long as I do the dishes.

In other news,  I finished the last week of school before finals last night.  It's nice to know that no new material is being taught and all I have to do now is study and study some more.  I have to do a project this weekend for my Calculus course but that shouldn't be too difficult.  The end is near, what a relief.

One of my friends that I knew in the Army is coming to visit this weekend.  Hopefully I'll find some time to study.  He is stationed at Fort Huachuca in southern AZ.  It's about a three hour drive up to Phoenix so he'll be staying all weekend with me.  It's going to be fun.  He asked me to go to his unit's ball next weekend and of course I couldn't turn that down so I'll be going down there next weekend.  I have no idea what we will do while he's here but maybe we'll see a movie or go bowling.  I'll have to let you know what we do.

I have a doctor's appointment today right after work.  It's just a follow up from two weeks ago but the infection that I have been taking meds for seems like it's still hanging around.  Hopefully the doctor will refill my prescription and it will leave my body soon.  The one thing I really don't look forward to at the doctor's office is having to wait around for the doctor to see me.  I guess I'm really impatient but I don't see why it always has to take an hour just for a follow-up.  I guess I just have to wait.  BORING!!

Well, I'm off for now but I'll update you on my fabulous weekend happenings with my friend next time.

    The temp is dropping

I can not believe just how cold it has been here in Phoenix this week.  Last week and all the weeks prior since about April it has been at the lowest 80 degrees.  What happened?  It hasn't been higher than 60 degrees this week.  I'm freezing to death in the "Valley of the Sun."  I guess I need to come to terms with it being winter and at least there's no snow.

In other news, school is just about finished for the semester.  I am relieved but stressed out at the same time.  Two of my classes are a sure deal for an A but the other two I'm not so sure about.  My Calculus class is what I'm most worried about but I'm going to spend this whole weekend working on my final project and doing homework so I should do just fine.  I always manage to pull through when it comes to school.

Yesterday was another day of work and school but I did get to go out to dinner with my parents.  We went to a local restaurant and talked and had a good time.  My parents were at my brother's house in North Carolina all last week so this was the first time that I got to see them in over a week.  It seems like dinnertime is when my parents fill me in on the whole family drama that is going on.  I now know that my brother-in-law has a new job and my sister is signing up for a dental hygienist course at the local college in Maryland.  Go Michelle!! You will do great.  My little brother is in the Army and is stationed at Fort Bragg.  He just got married in May and his wife and him are adjusting to their new life and hopefully will get orders to move soon.  Life is good all around and I can't wait to see all of them in December when we go to my sister's house in Maryland for Christmas.  My sister has the two most beautiful kids in the world, Eric and Ashley, and I can not wait to play with them in the snow.  I'm so excited, less than a month now.

Today is another day of nothing here at work.  Hopefully it picks up soon but I know it probably won't and I will surf the internet and play Sudoku for my paycheck again today.  It could be worse but it definitely could be better.  I really like my job most days but when it's slow I wish that I had a more active job.  I am going to quit complaining now because I am really fortunate and like I said, it could be worse.

Well, I'm off for now, today is going to be a long day because after work I have school until 9 pm.  After tonight just one more week of school.  YEAH!!

    A New Beginning

Today I am starting a new blog.  I tried this whole blog thing a while back but I just didn't have the time to keep up with it.  I really enjoy reading everyone else's blogs and now I am going to seriously work on my own.

Over the last few months I have started some new beginnings in my life.  I am recently single for the first time in a while.  This is probably the biggest change for me because I am someone that feels most comfortable when I am in a relationship.  I think that I am going to try this single thing for a while.  I know that this will make my parents happy because they think I need to "find" myself.  I keep telling them that I know who I am but I am going to work on being a stronger, happier me for a while.  I also have decided recently that I need to work on my relationship with Jesus.  I have been falling away lately and I really want a closer relationship with Him.  I have devoted more time in my life to praying and reading His word.  This is the most important thing that I can do in my life and I need to make it a priority in my life.

I am a full time student right now and I also work full time.  This is very hard to maintain semester after semester but I really need to get it done while I have the momentum.  School is a lot of work and I have to convince myself sometimes to just go to class after a long day at work.  This semester is coming to end after next week so come January it will be a new start with a new semester.

Well here is to new beginnings and a new blog.  I am going to work hard at keeping up with it this time.  Until next time.
