The way life should be done

I've moved

I have totally neglected this blog for so long that I actually forgot about it.  I moved my blog to Blogger and forgot to tell anyone.  I shouldn't say forgot but failed to mention.  My new blog can be found here.  Come stop by for a quick visit.  My life is very interesting.  Yeah, whatever!

OMG, has it really been over a month?

Yes, yes it has.  I can't believe that I've neglected my blog for so long.  There hasn't been anything too pressing other than my full-time work schedule, my full-time school schedule, and my relationship.  Yeah, not too busy here.  I wish!  Life seems to be passing me by right before my eyes.  So what have I been up to since Feburary?  Well let's see.  Del and I are still going strong.  There have been some minor issues but we seem to be working them out.  His girls are absolute dolls and I miss them everytime they are with their mom.  I never knew that you could get so attached to kids that aren't even yours but you can.  I finally met my mentee from the youth at risk program and we've been spending time together.  I wasn't really prepared I guess for what it would be like but I'm getting used to it quickly.  Her name is Maria and she's 10.  She comes from a rather large family and her mom and stepdad don't really have a lot of money or time to spend on or with her.  She hasn't done a lot of the things that I took for granted when I was young.  I couldn't believe that she had never been bowling or rollerskating before.  We have done both of things since we've started spending time together and she is having a great time and so am I.  She is really sweet but she is still in that give me stage so I'm getting used to that as well.  Well work is the same thing just on a different day.  The stockmarket is crazy as usual and I hear about everyday.  Oh well, I guess that's the job I lead.  We just started our new work schedule of 5am to 1:30pm.  I really love this schedule because getting home at 2pm is really nice.  There's no traffic in the morning or in the afternoon and work seems to go by so much faster.  I love daylight savings time.  In Arizona we have to adjust our work schedules because we don't recognize daylight savings time.  We have to be different.  Oh well.  And finally school.  Well it's spring break.  YEAH!! I love Spring Break.   I am doing nothing special because work doesn't cut us a spring break.  At least I don't have to rush home and get to school for a whole week.  Next week my sister will be on Spring Break and she's bringing the kids home for a week.  I am so excited because we never get to see them anymore.  It's going to be fun.

So there's an update.  Oh, did I mention that I'm going to Hawaii in May for my birthday?  I am and I'm so excited.  Is it May 18th yet?  I plan on spending six days in Kuaui and just relaxing for my birthday.  I so deserve it.  I love going to new places and I try to see a new place every year for my birthday.  Next year I want to go to Spain but who knows?  I have wanted to go for years and I am going to just have to bite the bullet and buy a ticket.  Anyone want to go with me?   So I am going to go catch up on all my friend's blogs so look for some comments from me.  I hope that everyone has been enjoying themselves over the last month while I was away.

They make my heart melt

As all of you who read my blog know I have recently started dating a guy.  What you don't know is that he has two of the most beautiful children in the whole world.  Their names are Alexis, she's 8, and Emma, she's almost 4.  Oh my goodness, they are the sweetest kids and while I've met them before I actually got to spend some quality time with them this weekend.  Del only has the kids every other weekend but he always makes the most of his time.  He is such an amazing father and his girls are so good and such daddy's girls.

This past Saturday I met him and the girls at his place and we decided to go to the Chocolate Affair Festival that they were having downtown.  I absolutely love, love, love chocolate and I got to spend time with Del and the girls.  We walked around for a while and we let the girls make chocolate pizza.  Yes, that's what I said, chocolate pizza.  It was just liquid chocolate that the girls could stir marshmellows and hershey kisses into and then they had to wait for the chocolate to harden before they could eat it.  They didn't like the waiting thing because they too love chocolate and it just looked so tempting.  We tried to wait to eat it but that didn't last long and they ended up eating it while it was still in it's liquid state.  I guess it was good because they had it everywhere.  Well we ate more chocolate, walked around some more, bought some souveniers, and took a carriage ride.  It was a great night and in the end the girls were so tired and fell asleep as soon as they got home.  They were just too sweet.  On Sunday I once again got to hang with the girls (and Del, of course) and we went to the lake because it was well into the 70s here in Phoenix.  Sorry to all who are freezing in their cold ridden states.  We parked and let the girls play.  They just wanted to throw rocks and see who's made the bigger splash.  Emma kept finding these big rocks and kept asking Del and I to throw them in the lake for her.  Well we left the lake after about two hours of rocks and water fun and we stopped for some ice cream before they took me home.  I think the girls liked me but they also seemed a little jealous that there may be a new girl in Daddy's life.  I'm not sure how to deal with this because I've never dated a guy with kids before.  Any advice?

So that was my weekend.  Oh, one more thing, my mom and I went to the science center on Saturday and saw the Body Worlds 3 exhibit that came to Phoenix.  That was really cool and I learned so much.  My only complaint though was that there was this group of three people who thought they were doctors and they were right behind my mom and I during the whole exhibit.  They kept talking about how all the body parts worked and it wasn't even always correct.  I'm no doctor but when the exhibit information is different than what is coming out of their mouths, I tend to go with what the exhibit is showing.  Oh and the funniest thing happened with that group.  They were looking at this body that was a posed plastanation and one of the girls looked right at me and asked me, "Do you know what gland that is? I can't remember what gland that is."  I gave her this look like, Do I look like a doctor to you?  I'm here just like everyone else trying to learn something.  If I was a doctor, I probably wouldn't be interested in relearning about body parts I already know about from medical school.  Get a clue woman.  So annoying!!  Oh well, other than that, it was a pretty awesome show.  My mom totally loved it to and she read EVERY single information card and listened to EVERY piece of information she could.  At least we got our money's worth out of it.

Overall, another great weekend.  Work is going great for a change and so is school.  I totally love school this semester and I hope this loving feeling lasts at least until Spring Break.  This next weekend Del and I are going to Sedona for the weekend.  It's going to be so beautiful and we are going to go hiking, shopping, and do general touristy stuff.  I'm so excited.  One last thing,  I have my final training this week for the mentor program that I started with.  I should be able to meet my mentee next week, or at least I hope so.  That really makes me happy.  I hope that I make as great of an impression on her/his life as I know that they will make on mine.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and that you have a great week.  I will write again soon.  I added pictures of Alexis, Emma, and Del.  Aren't they just the cutest?

All about the rage in the cage

What a wonderful weekend I am having.  The weather here in Phoenix is so beautiful.  It's probably in the 70's I'm guessing.  No wind, no cold, no rain.  It doesn't get much better than that.

So Friday night I had a date night with my new man.  Del and I were originally going to go to the movies and then off to "Extreme Bowling" at the local alley but we skipped the movie and instead went shopping and then we went to the bowling alley.  The shopping was pretty boring and I only ended up buying my niece some new bedtime books but it was really nice to spend some time with Del just walking and talking.  We headed off to the bowling alley at around 10pm for a night of music, flashy lights, and knocking down some pins.  We ended up playing five games and I won every one of them.  No mercy for Del.  I had three beers while bowling and you'd think that my score would reflect this almost drunk state but it didn't.  I was actually getting better.  I guess all those Saturday bowling leagues when I was a kid finally paid off.  My mom would be so proud.

On to Saturday.  Saturday night Del and I went to dinner at a great new Mexican resturaunt and then we went to the casino for Rage in the Cage.  I have never been to a fighting event before but I thought that it couldn't be that bad.  Del is really into this fighting stuff and the IFL or is it UFL?  I don't know all the details but he really likes it.  When we first got there I was glad to see that the seats were really close to the cage and there were also viewing screens up around the cage for a closer look.  The fights started at around 7:30pm or so and the first few fights were pretty uneventful, mostly just wrestling.  These guys were pretty new and really skinny for fighters if you ask me.  There was an intermission in the middle and then the more experienced fighters started to come out.  There was a really good fight with lots of punches and blood and I couldn't believe how excited I was when they were beating the crap out of each other.  The only thing that really disturbed me was how the referee wore surgical gloves but the guys who cleaned the fighter's blood didn't.  Isn't there some kind of safety hazzard going on there.  I have a thing about blood and I don't really like to see it let alone touch it with my bare hands.  It's really GROSS!!  Well in the end I must say that I too like cage fighting.  It's really cool to watch and it's not as unsafe as I once thought.  I may actually let Del take me to another one.

So here it is Sunday night.  All I did today was laundry and I ventured out to buy a new MP3 player.  Oh, I also sat around and watched DVDs of Project Runway Season 2.  I love that show and I'm so glad that I have Netflix.  I have been really lazy all day and I should probably run to the grocery store to pick up a few things for work this week and then mail back my Netflix before I get too lazy to go out again.  I hope that everyone is having a great weekend and has a wonderful week.  Until next time...

And here we go again

Yesterday was the start of the new semester.  Yep, another semester of working all day and going to school all night, homework, studying, and stressing over tests.  Oh, the life of a working student.  I must say though, it will all be worth it in the end.  At least that's what I tell myself every night I drag myself off to class.  Only two and a half more years, ONLY.  It wasn't so bad last night.  I went to my first statistics class and I actually think I may like this class.  I noticed something last night, it seems that when you are a night student you end up with the same people in your classes over and over again.  I saw about six to ten people that I've had some class with over the last three semesters in my new class.  I like seeing those faces again because I am used to them and don't have to make new friends.  Sometimes I just don't want to make new friends.  Hopefully I stay as positive as I am now throughout the semester.  Tonight I start my Physical Geography course and I'm sure I'll like it.  I am a science nerd.  I am taking a full semester again and I am also taking small group communications, history of jazz music and culture, and english 102 for the second go around.  I am hoping that I can get over my procastination issues soon or this could be another long semester.

Some good news for anyone who's interested, I am seeing a new guy.  It's really new and I'm really excited.  His name is Del and we had our first date on Friday night.  It was really nice and we ended up talking all night.  I don't want to sound too girly or cutesy so I'm not going to go into all the details but I had a great time.   It was a long weekend and we ended up seeing each other three times over the four days off and it's off to a good start.  I'll keep you updated on any new developments.

My parents are heading off to Palm Springs this weekend for a conference and I am home alone with the dog.  I have never mentioned my dog before so I'll fill you in on him really quick.  His name is Lucky, he's a dalmation, and he has been in my family since I was a sophmore in high school.  So that's about ten years now.  About two or so years ago he was diagnosed with diabetes and now has to have a shot of insulin twice a day.  He has really bad arthritis as well and has a hard time getting on the furniture and in his chair.  So whenever we go away on vacation we have to make sure that someone can take care of the dog.  He is such a good dog and he loves me so much so I don't mind taking care of him while my parents are gone.  We have heard a lot of "Why don't you just put him down?" comments lately but my mom just cries when she hears that.  I don't even talk about that around her anymore and he doesn't seem to be in any pain.  Oh and did I mention that he's blind in one eye?  The vet says that was caused by the diabetes.  He is like a kid and we can't imagine what it's going to be like without him.   We all know that he won't be around forever but we continue to love him and give him LOTS of bones.  He's definitely not a skinny dog.  So now you know about Lucky.

Well I am off to work now, it's Wednesday so we are halfway done with the week.  YEAH!!  I am already planning my weekend.
